Warehouse Operations Manager – Worcester
We’re looking for a strong operational leader to take overall responsibility for our 24-hour warehouse operation at Bidfood Worcester.
You’ll lead the warehouse through an established management team, bringing together Days and Nights under one clear operational structure. Your focus will be on improving the operation as a whole: productivity, safety, cost, service, engagement, compliance, management capability and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for somebody who is comfortable getting into the detail when needed, but whose real strength is identifying where the operation can perform better and then delivering sustainable change through others.
What you’ll be responsible for
You’ll provide senior leadership across the full warehouse operation, including:
-
Leading and developing warehouse managers and team managers across Days and Nights.
-
Owning warehouse productivity, labour planning, cost control and operational performance.
-
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, shift structures, workflow, stock movement and resource utilisation.
-
Using data and KPIs to understand root causes rather than simply reacting to daily performance.
-
Driving measurable continuous improvement while protecting safety, service and colleague engagement.
-
Working closely with Stock, Transport and other depot functions to improve end-to-end performance.
-
Building management capability, accountability and succession across the warehouse team.
About you
We’re less interested in the industry you come from than in what you have actually achieved.
You’re likely to have led a sizeable, fast-paced warehouse, distribution or logistics operation and will be able to demonstrate that you have:
-
Led teams of managers of various levels.
-
Personally identified and delivered significant operational improvements.
-
Improved productivity and reduced cost without compromising safety or customer service.
-
Used operational data to challenge existing ways of working and make better decisions.
-
Managed labour, budgets and changing workload in a commercially disciplined way.
-
Developed managers and built stronger-performing teams.
-
Operated successfully in a high-volume environment where service deadlines matter.
Experience within foodservice, FMCG, retail distribution or temperature-controlled logistics would be useful, but it isn’t essential.
Why Bidfood?
Bidfood is one of the UK’s leading foodservice wholesalers, and Worcester is a growing, fast-paced multi-temperature operation with a strong opportunity for the right person to make a visible impact.
You’ll join a business that actively supports learning, development and career progression. Current Bidfood benefits include:
-
25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the opportunity to buy more.
-
Company pension – matching up to 6% after the first year.
-
Healthcare plan including support with everyday medical costs and access to a digital GP.
-
Life cover.
-
Employee assistance and confidential counselling support.
-
High-street, travel, cinema, technology, food and drink discounts.
Opportunities for continued development and progression.
If you’re the type of operational leader who naturally asks why something is done the way it is, what the data tells you and how it could work better, we’d like to hear from you.
