I was initially attracted to apply because Bidfood clearly invests in its people, providing ample opportunities to expand skills and take on professional qualifications, such as supporting the completion of the CIMA qualification. So the opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that combines sustainability and a strong culture of development made Bidfood the ideal place. 

Each rotation under the graduate scheme plays an integral role in helping me understand the business’s financial position, optimise operations, and achieve long-term strategic goals. On the commercial analyst side, I collaborate with the Sales Team to assess pricing strategies, product profitability, and margin analysis, getting involved in multiple tenders. So while the reporting role focuses more on internal financial control and analysis, the commercial roles emphasise profitability, business development, and financial decision-making. 

I develop my skills and knowledge daily. And the best thing is being part of a dynamic, customer-focused company that values collaboration, innovation, and both company and personal growth.

I’ve been given the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop from day one. The three-year rotational programme gives me the opportunity to participate in cross-functional teams, collaborate with various departments, and see first-hand how my efforts contribute to the company’s success. So one of the most exciting aspects is the chance to contribute to real, meaningful projects. 

The dynamic, fast-paced environment keeps me engaged and motivated, with new challenges and learning opportunities at every turn. Initially, I was apprehensive about balancing work, study, and life. However, the unwavering support from both mentors and colleagues has been invaluable, alleviating my fears. Team events, both in and outside of work, have helped boost my confidence and made me feel like a valued member of the team. 

So Bidfood’s Graduate Finance Trainee programme is more than just a career start – it’s an opportunity to personally and professionally grow!

Working within the Sales Team means every day is different! This role has given me a full view of the Sales process from prospecting and visiting customers to winning accounts and customer aftercare. I’ve been involved in tendering, sampling, and even planning our Big Food & Drink show in Leeds. I feel so lucky to be part of a highly knowledgeable, encouraging, and experienced team who have supported my development and given me exciting opportunities to experience the whole customer journey.  

So the best part about working at Bidfood is the people. From day one, you’re made to feel like a true part of the business. Everyone has been extremely friendly. I quickly noticed how we’re actively encouraged to contribute new and innovative ideas, and as a graduate, we're continuously given the support to drive positive change within our teams.

I would say the most challenging aspect of working at Bidfood is the complexity of the organisation. Having limited previous experience in the Food and Drink industry, the various processes initially felt very complicated. However, the entire team has been incredibly patient and supportive in helping me expand my understanding. I’m now embracing these challenges and find it rewarding to learn something new every day.

What attracted me to this programme was the opportunity to experience six different areas within the food industry. From operations and transport to sales and finance, getting to experience working in all these departments gives me a rounded insight into the food industry and how a multibillion-pound organisation operates.

The best thing I have found about working at Bidfood has been the team. Everyone at Bidfood is so welcoming and willing to put up with my questions, help me solve issues, as well as help me learn the processes of the operational side of Bidfood. 

This programme is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in building a career in large-scale operations, particularly management. From the first day, I was introduced as a manager and treated as a manager. Because of that, my decision-making, accountability, and sense of responsibility have really grown. Every day I face and overcome new challenges to achieve our daily objectives. And having to learn and adapt every day has been something I’ve really enjoyed over the last 5 months. I’ve developed key skills such as people management and adaptability which will be incredibly useful for the rest of my career.
