About the role

Role Overview:
As the Regional Safety Partner, you will take a leading role in managing and developing regional safety initiatives, including the depot and regional safety plans, to ensure we meet both organisational and regulatory standards. Working closely with operational teams, the Business Unit Director, and the regional People Partner, you will drive cultural improvements and promote a safe working environment, whilst supported by the central safety assurance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the depot/regional safety plan, incorporating workplace transport safety improvements, in collaboration with the Business Unit Director and operational teams.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and local workplace transport assessments, providing guidance and support to operational teams on risk priorities and control suitability.
  • Develop content for safe systems of work and ensure they are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Lead root cause analysis on serious and high-potential incidents, using incident trends to inform decisions and focus safety efforts.
  • Oversee the regional assurance programme and undertake verification around risk controls within the depots
  • Deliver regional Health & Safety training, including incident investigation, contractor management, and risk assessment.
  • Manage the delivery of monthly Health & Safety performance reviews, including progress against KPIs and the workplace transport safety improvement plan.
  • Manage safety aspects of operational risk & change projects, ensuring the safety of new sites and operational activities.
  • Approve and sign off MHE specifications from local risk assessments.
  • Oversee the execution of safety elements in start-up plans for new sites, including Health & Safety training facilitation.
  • Implement and interpret new Bidcorp safety standards across the region.
  • Attend regional warehouse and transport forums, promoting the safety culture and safety plan.
  • Lead all EHO enforcement visits and manage any actions that result.
  • Conduct collaborative “walk & talks” with the operations team to enhance the effectiveness of safety conversations and coaching.

Jobholder Requirements:

  • Professionally qualified Health & Safety Manager (NEBOSH Diploma as a minimum).
  • Membership of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).
  • Experience in the management of an ISO 45001 certified system.
  • Ability to impact and influence at all levels, particularly at senior levels.
  • Highly credible presence at senior management level.
  • Proven experience in managing change projects effectively.
  • Skilled in health & safety management theory and its practical application.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and listening skills to guide and support operational teams.
